I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble retrieving your Microsoft account.

Not only that, but as you don’t recall the email address, you may want to try recovering your account by submitting the account recovery form but using instead a previously linked phone number or previously created Skype username, which is not the same as our gamertag.

Besides that, I find it appropriate to mention that it is not possible to unlink a third party account from the Microsoft side of things. The process always needs to be done in the third party account linked accounts management site.

Furthermore, please refrain from sharing personal information, including email addresses, gamertags, etc.

Sorry to say, but you're not going to be able to recover your account with just your Gamertag. Can you imagine how abused any service that allowed looking up someone's e-mail address based on their Gamertag would be? The level of spam, harassment and vitriol some members of our community would, unfortunately, deliver would be astounding.

If you know a phone number or Skype username associated with the account you can try the recovery process at https://account.live.com/acsr otherwise I'm not sure what your options are.

If it's longer than 12 characters then i'm afraid not.

I'd suggest not letting your friends on your account as that can get you into trouble.You can even put a pass key on your account to prevent other people using it.
