How to fix frozen xbox while it is updating

May I ask which Xbox model you are using?

When it comes to this kind of problem it's always best to just wait for the update to error out, as interrupting the process could potentially damage the console.

If you have already restarted or turned your console off but it remains stuck on the update process, please give this a try:

- While the console is off, unplug its power cord for 30 seconds.
- Press and hold the BIND and EJECT buttons.
- Without letting go of them, press the power button once (do not hold).
- Continue holding BIND and EJECT for 15 seconds or until you hear a second boot-up tone.
- If the Startup troubleshooter comes up, select "Reset Xbox" and then "Keep games and apps"

Keep in mind you will need an internet connection and your account details (email and password) to complete the reset process and sign in again.

* If you have an All-digital Xbox One S or an Xbox Series S, you'll need to hold the BIND button only, as your console does not have an EJECT button.

** Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. If your console has been constantly connected to the internet and Xbox Live services, your saved data should be backed up on the cloud.

Nevermind, it's back on. All I did was turn off the console, and did the power cycle thing. I booted to the green screen, I waited 5-10 minutes and it went back to the dashboard.

Is this still a thing?..

yes. right now i have a frozen update happened many times before and ive tried so many fixes but the only way i know how to fix it is uninstall

Bonzi . I'm afraid that your in the same boat as me and your Xbox one is bricked and don't expect any help from the minions at Microsoft absolutely disgusting the way we have been treated

So because the console was frozen for roughly 2 hours, I had no choice but to power down and restart. At the first restart I got only a black screen, so I did a power cycle as a last hope. Sadly, I was met with the green loading screen at start up and that
seems to be a dead end for me. Have to say I'm very disappointed that a product would completely fail after only a year and a half of usage maybe two or three times a week.
