  1. How to fix audio issues when I use Microsoft owned apps

Whenever I use a Microsoft app, most of the time being Minecraft, and I use another source of audio such as Discord, Voicemod, or the Xbox Overlay Party Chat, either the Minecraft audio or my other source of audio will become quiet and sounds muffled, as though it is coming from another room (echo-y in a way). I've tried to check my Sound Mixer options whenever this occurs but it shows no issues. I believe the problem may be that the Microsoft apps cause my laptop to prioritize one source of audio over another and the non-prioritized audio is muffled. I may be wrong however but I'd like any help to identify and fix the issue.

    :)

How to fix audio issues when I use Microsoft owned apps

    Hello DragonMaster,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version? You can check it by pressing the Win key + R key, and typing "winver", then press Enter, please take a screenshot/photo of it, and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

Did this occur recently, or has it been going on for a while? If it was recent, did you have any special actions (such as installing system updates, hardware changes, etc.) before that?

There are a few things you can try to fix audio issues when using Microsoft-owned apps:

    1. Update your audio drivers: Outdated audio drivers can cause various audio problems, so make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You can usually find them on the manufacturer's website or through Windows Update.
    2. Check the audio settings in each app: Some apps have audio settings that can affect how audio is played back. Make sure the audio settings in Minecraft, Discord, Voicemod, and the Xbox Overlay Party Chat are all set correctly.
    3. Disable audio enhancements: Windows has a feature called audio enhancements that can sometimes cause audio issues. Win + R to open "Run", type "mmsys.cpl", press Enter to open Sound > Recording tab > right-click your microphone > Properties > Enhancements tab, adjust the Audio Enhancement and relative settings.
    4. Use the Windows audio troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix audio problems. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot, select the Playing Audio troubleshooter, and follow the on-screen instructions.
    5. Try a different audio output device: If the above steps don't work, try using a different audio output device, such as headphones or external speakers, to see if the issue persists.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,

I followed this step, but the device I'm using is not in the list, Jabra Engage 65. All devices are ticked. How do I add my device in the recording?

I can't sign into OneDrive on Xbox 360

Having the same issue as others on my Xbox 360 and none of the 'fixes' have worked. I could understand the delay in fixing this if this were a 3rd party app, but it blows my mind how Microsoft cannot remedy their own app on their own gaming system.

headphones ignored on surface pro 2

Hey, just to update on this I think I can help you narrow down the problem a bit. The issue seems to be that when using Windows Audio Session for audio output the Surface Pro 2 will not switch to headphones when plugged in. This is not the case when using
Direct Sound instead. Direct Sound properly switches to the headphones when plugged in. Maybe you guys can yell at Microsoft to get them to fix Windows Audio Session to properly follow the default sound device as it seems to affect all the Microsoft Studios
games I've got and a few other Modern UI apps as well.

I Would Like to get full HD Audio Support on the XBOne

The issue is that when you select bitstreaming, the Xbox One will decode the HD Audio, mixes in its own audio, and then outputs it in either legacy Dolby Digital or DTS. Very old school.

If you select PCM output, the system decodes the HD Audio, mixes in its own audio, and then outputs it in PCM. I think most of us "audiophiles" would like the system to simply pass/offload the audio to our receivers so it can do the decoding. Something my
old PS3 has done for years now.

    I would like this fixed.
