How to fix a failed to update controller?

My xbox one controller failed to update at 83% and now it's no longer working with the console, when I open the accessories app and plug in the controller using USB cable, it shows up for a second and then immediately disappears

Still doesn't work, it connects and immediately disconnects however it works on my pc but even then, it doesn't appear in the accessories app on windows 10

Hi there!

Try to power cycle your controller. Turn if off then remove its batteries. Wait for couple of minutes before turning it back on then try to update it again.

Hey Pepe - this was an issue in the latest update (1407.) The engineers are aware of it and are working to fix the issue. As of right now, the temporary fix of doing a hard reboot is the only resolution, but they are working on a permanent fix for the controller
failing to power up the console, the controller failing to turn off when the console is shut down, as well as various issues where the controller loses connection temporarily.

Fixed it..i think.

Plug the adapter with the controller and update the controller again using the micro usb. no batteries. I think the servers were having issues w/ the update earlier since i got an error of failed update. even though i updated the controllers yesterday.
