How to find my DHCP server?

Playing a game and got kicked off the internet. When I tried to reconnect, I get a message that says it can't connect to your DHCP server but I can't find what a DHCP server is. It tells me to visit xbox.com/networkhardware to make sure it isn't filtering out my console's MAC address but when I go to that site, I can't find where to continue. Any suggestions? I've unplugged the router and modem several times and also reset them.

    :)

How to find my DHCP server?

The DHCP server is typically located within your router or modem. To find the DHCP server, you can try accessing your router's configuration page by typing its IP address into your web browser. The IP address is usually printed on the bottom of the router or modem. Once you're on the configuration page, look for the DHCP settings. If you're unsure how to access your router's configuration page, you can try contacting your internet service provider for assistance. As for the Xbox.com/networkhardware page, you should be able to find the "Continue" button towards the bottom of the page after reviewing the information provided.

Keep in mind wrong passwords or Mac filtering will keep you from reaching the dhcp on your router

I typically use my phone or a keyboard to enter in passwords especially the router or account

Typically your isp can help you access your router ms can only refer you to a lost of manufacturers and you have to look up your router etc

Typically if you router is issued by your isp therr is a set way to sign im

Usually 192.968.1.1 and enter your admin and password

You will see logs of wha tis connecting and failing

If it's failing it could.be you aren't entering the Wi-Fi password right or your Mac address is being blockrd school networks will block gaming devices sometimes fyi

    DHCP Server

Are you directly connected to your router with an ethernet wire or wireless wi-fi? Power cycling your router/modem/gateway is a good first step to regain connectivity,

    dhcp server

Basically your router is your dhcp server your wifi is refusing to hand your xbox an ip

Either you have a bad password which case you need to attach an usb keyboard to input it and make sure to show password to see if you entered it correctly

Or you have too many connections or your router is blocking your xbox which case add the mac address to the router to be approved

Sometimes routers have a limit on how many active connections there are this is controled by access control in router settings

    : DHCP server

Hello there @Lilforza, I hope everything is going well!

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support. I want you not to worry about the situation because I am here to help you out! I believe your console might need either a network reset or just a system refresh. I would like you to go through the following
steps to clear the Mac address and then perform a quick power cycle on your console:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your console.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500
    (UDP).

In case the issue still persists after the previous steps have been performed here is the official link to all the network troubleshooting steps that can help sort this out for you.

The link: Troubleshoot your Xbox One network connection | Xbox Support

In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you
to sign in to the account.

I wish you a lovely day, and I hope this helps you out! All the best!

    Kind Regards

    Stay safe, and happy gaming!

    DHCP servers

    Hi there,

Please try a power cycle of your home network - that means to unplug both your Xbox and router from the power outlet for a few minutes, and to try what you were attempting again, after re-connecting. By
default, your Xbox should automatically pick up a network connection and attempt to connect to Xbox Live.

See this page for some more troubleshooting advice and feel free to get in touch again, if you continue to run into issues:

    Hope this helps :)
