How to find controlling parent on my account?

We understand that you are having trouble sending friend requests and playing multiplayer on your child account. I can definitely help you with that.



To resolve this issue, you will need to have your parent or guardian sign in to their Microsoft account and grant permission for you to use these features. If you are unsure who is signed in as your parent or guardian, you can try the following steps:



1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page (https://account.microsoft.com/) and click on "Sign in with Microsoft" at the top right corner.



2. Enter your email address and password for your child account.



3. Once you are signed in, click on the "Family" tab at the top of the page.



4. You should see a list of family members and their account types. Look for the account that is listed as a "Parent" or "Guardian".

Once you have identified who is signed in as your parent or guardian, they can follow these steps to grant permission for you to use friend requests and multiplayer:



1. Have your parent or guardian sign in to their Microsoft account.



2. Go to the "Family" tab and select your child account.



3. Under "Permissions", click on "Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety".



4. Scroll down to "Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Multiplayer" and toggle the switch to "Allow".



5. Scroll down to "Xbox One/Windows 10 Friends" and toggle the switch to "Allow".



6. Click on "Save" to apply the changes.

So i would have to sign in on my parents account and make an xbox live account on it to remove my parental controls? We already looked around on her Microsoft account and couldnt find anything

Hi LucBoonen1, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

Previously, we can see the organizer's account email on https://account.microsoft.com/family. However, since it's already updated, if you're a member or a child account the organizer email address will no longer be visible which means that you just need to ask your parent to check all of their Microsoft accounts for them to manage it.

You can also ask an adult sibling if they may have added you as a member under theirs.

You may need to adjust or disable parental controls for the account.
