How to disable the game control setting on Xbox Microsoft edge.

So since an update or two ago Xbox Microsoft edge has had a stupid little setting that has been driving me crazy, game control mode for edge.

Effectively what happens is it disables the standard browser controls in favour of a clunky unusable system where the on screen courser disappears from the screen and navigating the browser becomes impossible. You follow the instructions to return to the previous system just to be forced into it again a few minutes later and again whenever loading a new page or switching tabs.

To bring a long unnecessary story to an end, how do I disable this pointless feature, permanently.

Currently, this is not available as a feature in the Microsoft Edge app on Xbox. The solution for this is to press and hold the menu button on your controller to turn off "Gamepad mode".

If you believe this is a bug, I strongly recommend reporting it through the Report a problem feature on Xbox.

Lastly, I suggest posting this in the Xbox request thread on the Xbox Insiders subreddit. I can not guarantee that this feature will be added after posting here but our developers and engineers frequent the site.

Try some of these solutions:

Clear browser cache: Go to the Settings menu in Microsoft Edge and select "Privacy & Security". From there, choose "Clear Browsing Data" and make sure you select the option to clear the cache. This may help resolve any caching issues that could be causing the tab refresh issue.

Disable extensions: If you have extensions installed on Microsoft Edge, try temporarily disabling them to see if they are causing the issue. Go to the Extensions menu in Edge and disable all extensions. Restart the browser and check if the problem persists.

Update Microsoft Edge: Make sure your Microsoft Edge browser is up to date. Sometimes Xbox system updates also include updates for Microsoft Edge. To update your console, go to the Settings menu, select "System" and "Updates" and check for available updates.

Restart your Xbox: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches or conflicts. Turn off the Xbox Series X completely, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Launch Microsoft Edge and see if the tab refresh issue still occurs.

On the parental settings you should be able to disable all websites for her account, and the console Edge should adhere to that. You can then add sites your child is allowed to use to a whitelist, so the kid can ONLY visit the sites you set up to be allowed.
Everything else will be inaccessible.

As the Edge app is a system app for the Xbox One, you can't uninstall it. You can however tell Edge which websites are allowed and to block everything else with the instructions above.
