How to connect Xbox controller to my pc when it needs to be updated?

My windows is up to date, however I cannot update the firmware of my controller as previously stated. When I go to xbox accessories on my PC and try to update my controller for the few seconds that it stays connected it says applying update but sits at 0% forever. And when you connect via bluetooth you cannot update said controller since I am on PC.

How do I update the controller when I dont get a connection with PC , the light is just flashing on Controller.

I have tried Xbox accessories, but no connection.

Do I have to use a Special USB cable or not.

When I plug the USB into my controller then into the PC, the controller vibrates and I'm able to turn it on. But my PC doesn't tell me that the controller is plugged in. And Xbox Accessories says that I need to plug in a controller, but it is plugged
in. So I don't know what is going on. Have you guys ever had this type of problem posted before? If yes please let me know how it was solved. Thank you.
