How to check either it is an official or third party software

To check the name of the product that you are using in your PC. go to > control panel >programs and feature. You can find list and check on the column for "Publisher." Then you can see the name of the product.

Are you using an Official Microsoft XBox HDD? Is it a third party HDD? Third party drives do not contain the necessary emulation software that is required for backwards compatibility.

Just a follow up question, is this a third party controller or an
Official Xbox 360 controller?

If this is a third party controller you may need to contact or check out the developer's web page for updates and software.

Was the hard drive purchased brand new or was it purchased used/from a third party company like ebay? If it was purchased used/from a third party, it's highly likely to be a knock off no matter how official it looks. So it may not have the emulation software
required to play original Xbox games.
