How to change the app permissions so I can install steam

Just to clarify you tried on both Steam and Xbox app games, not just steam games?

That's right, the folders on steam work fine and I'm able to change their permissions, the folders on the xbox app however, I'm unable to

As a fellow mostly PC gamer now, I feel your pain.

Unlike other other PC game providers like Steam, Origin, GoG etc, Windows 10 apps and games from the Windows Store are encrypted.

This means that even if you change the folder permission of the hidden 'WindowsApps' folder from 'trusted installer' to the local administrator, you still can not edit the files in the folders.

This policy may change in the future.

If you want a fully modifiable FFXV, you'll need the Steam version.

All permissions related to any Xbox App-based games can't be edited. The official Xbox App does not allow you to change any permissions yourself. No permissions to edit anything related to it, or the game in question, in the registry either.

I have used "take ownership" before on an Xbox App game with disastrous results. It seems that the Xbox App's permissions are so locked down that I am not allowed to touch anything, even when it is stopping me from launching the game.

In conclusion, I should've spent my gamepass money on Steam instead T-T

Also want to add i need permissions from SYSTEM to make changes to the file, however i am unable to gain these permissions, i know how to get them but when i try it all options get greyed out... so i cant even manually delete it.

Tried to reinstall the xbox app and made the problem worse, xbox installer does not move, left it for 20 minutes and nothing changed
