Your Xbox account age starts from the Date of Birth you entered when creating your profile online.

Once you hit 18, it becomes an adult account automatically. Just make sure your birthday on the account is correct.

If your Date of Birth is correct, try adding a payment method and billing information to your Microsoft Account.

A child account can not be forced into an adult account. Changing the date will also not change it. What ever date is first put in is the true age of the account and that will need to age into the correct "Adult" age.

As said there is no way to change your child's account to an adult account until the age of birth you have put has reached the age of an Adult for your specific region. There are some troubleshooting tips that if your account is past the birthday and still
a child's account there is a way to promote to an adult account.

To be sure your account was set as an adult account sign into your Microsoft account and post
a photo of what you see under family.

Keep in mind that changing the date of your account does not change how old the account is and accounts automatically switch from child to adult at the correct age.
