How to change my account to a adults account on Xbox

I recently got an xbox one and transferred my account from my 360 to the xbox one and that was fine, however I cant purchase anything because it says that an adult has put a privacy restriction on my account, and on my 360 I could buy things at will. I tried

no mater your age will always be considered a child account. Be aware that if you entered an incorrect birthday on your account you can go into your microsoft account profile and change your birthday but before you can be considered an adult you will need
to pay 50 cents using a credit card with your name on it that matches your account name as an age verification transaction.

Actually, the age of an Xbox account is set by the birthdate entered when creating the Xbox account. The birth-date can never be changed. Changing the date on the microsoft account profile will not change the date on the Xbox profile.
