How to add new sign in without access to old email address?

I understand you need help in changing the email address.

Just a heads up that changing the email address on your Microsoft account would need a verification through that email in order for you to change it to another one. If you are not able to verify that email, you will not be able to change it.

Although, if you still have access to that Microsoft account, you just have to make sure that your security proofs are up to date so that you can still access the account without issues through verifying it from the security proofs added.

The only way to have this changed is to have access to that email. I would suggest recovering that email so you can change it.

Since you have mentioned that you have been using this account and can't make any changes to it, I just want to clarify if you do have access to this account?

If no, the only option to recover a Microsoft account is through the account recovery webform:

https://account.live.com/acsr

If you're unable to recover the account through the ACSR or password reset, I'm afraid it is no longer possible to access the account.

If you're able to recover the account, (Just in case the old school email was accessed after ACSR) you can switch the email address alias of your old school email as primary and switch it as secondary by adding a new email address alias on your account. Here's how:

Add a new email address on your Microsoft account on account.microsoft.com > Your Info > manage how you sign in > then add the alias.

Note: Make sure that the new email address is not associated with any Microsoft account.

Then switch the new email alias making it as a primary alias and your old school email will be the secondary alias.

Note: This change is only for sign-in preferences. Please do not remove your old school email from your account as this may cause permanent deletion of your files or saved data progress. Remain it as your secondary alias.

How are you accessing the account without an email address?

Are you not able to access the personal details of the account to add a new email address?

What message are you getting when trying to connect online?

If you are using the same console all the DLC he has bought should be available to all users in that console.

If he creates a new account on it, he should be able to download all that DLC again for free.

While still logged into your account, click "Your info" and then select "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft." Then Click on "Add email" and create a new Microsoft domain email address or add an existing Microsoft email address. 😁
