How likely is it that I may wake up one day to my console being bricked on the insider updates?

As far as I can tell, you are running Insider's yes? If you are, then DO NOT update using the normal OSUs as it will likely brick your console

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with Insiders can comment on how this should be solved as I don't know

If you've had a system update twice in three days you must be an Insider.

May I suggest you unsubscribe from being an Insider because part of the experience of being an Insider is that you receive a lot of updates.

I’ve been having the same issue for the last couple of months.

My Xbox One X console is not in the Insiders program (afaik).

It shutdowns almost every time I try to wake it up after turning it off normally with a controller a day earlier.

Some things just break after being used for a while, it depends on which component fails inside the power brick. It's unfortunate but simply happens.

As for your non-official power brick, it depends on the brick itself whether or not is can damage the console as some may be designed to a similar standard as Microsoft's power bricks whereas others are not similar. I don't think your console will get damaged
unless the power brick isn't good at regulating power and protecting against power surges. At the end of the day, I would recommend buying an official power brick for the console whenever you can to protect the system from any faults from the non-official
power brick.

It's a known issue that will be addressed in a future update. Debugging software can be quite the process and takes time. More often than not, fixing one issue can cause problems elsewhere so it's up to the developers to make sure that all the kinks are
ironed out so we may receive a stable build rather than one that bricks the console entirely. You would like like to help with fixing these bugs faster, I suggest joining the Insider Program and actively test apps and features for other problems.
