How does the puzzle ring work?

Hey, I've got a puzzle ring, but it calls a goblin that follows me around and picks up common drops, it doesn't summon one when I get hit. Is there more than one puzzle ring?

I have one I might be willing to trade.

I don't want to sound like the greedy type but what do you have that you're willing to trade?

I think you just solved the mystery. I see 3 rings on the one that doesn't work, and 4 on the one that does work.

Now if I buy an adapter that I can put the 3 rings in, which adapts it to a 4 ring, would that work?
