how do you turn off game mode on xbox one x

Ye game mode is a tv setting. I dont have it on . I set my own settings 👍

Are you referring to "Game mode" on your TV settings?

If so, I would suggest trying a different HDMI cord.

Game mode is typically a TV feature rather than something you will find on a console. Its a feature that reduces additional processes the TV carries out to speed up video response times and keep a game responsive.

I personally don't use game mode as I've figured out which settings impact gameplay and which are fine to use. However tv's vary and its a lot of trial and error!

As others already said: Game Mode is a setting your TV does. If your TV is switching back and forth between Game Mode being on or off, I'd suggest you try a different HDMI cable, or check if your TV has a manual override.

In the case of a manual setting, make sure to turn Game Mode ON. Without Game Mode, the TV will try to "optimize" the picture for non-interactive video (i.e. Live TV, BluRay/DVD, and the likes), and "storing" several seconds of video feed, to calculate image
optimizations to make the video seem more "fluid".

However, because the TV has to store several frames and do some computations on the stored video, you will see a video "of the past", which can be fatal in a game.

Imagine being in a multiplayer game, where a person shoots at you. The TV stores the footage of the person shooting you, and processes that video. In the mean time the bullet travels across the map and hits you. Then the TV finishes processing the video
of the person shooting you, and displays it on it's screen. When you see the muzzle flash on your TV, you are already dead in the game.

So having the Game Mode turned on is actually a Good Thing (TM).
