There are like two or three good reasons why I would like to have both the Xbox accessories app for both the standard controller and for the Xbox adaptive controller to be able to have access flipping.

The accessories app for the regular controller let you remap the y-axis of either the left stick or the right stick but does not let you remap the x-axis.

Why would one run a remap the x-axis? I have two reasons one for each of the two sticks.

The reason why you might want to remap the x-axis on the right stick is because your first experience with camera controls in 3D environments with Super Mario 64. In that game you press the C buttons, which later became the right analog stick and you press them in the direction you wanted the Lakitu cam to go. (By the way how do you pronounce that name? I always thought it was "lack it too" but some Auto speaker called it a "la key too".)

If you want to see what's to the right of you you tell lack of two cam to go to the left, by pressing left. Same with looking right.

If you want to see a view from above you send Lakitu up and if you want to see the sky you send Lakitu down to your personal view.

However most shooters and platformers with 3d prrspectives assume you want the opposite of the N64 standard.

The other instance where you want to shift the left sticks x-axis is if you have to invert the controller to play a right-handed fight stick but it won't let you remap the directional buttons but it will let you remap the analog stick and that controller does let you access the analog stick control with a digital fightstick.

BTW (off the subject) I saw your video that X1 and X2 are two separate functions that could be programmed any other existing digital function and those are the two default buttons on a PC15 Gameport Stick, and and I use a PC 15 to USB HID converter, and it works perfectly fine. Those two only buttons can be assigned anything you want independently of other stuff. Thank you for clarifying that.

    :)

How Do You Flip the X axis on a USB controller plugged into the Adaptive controller

If you said all I could do is swap the left x axis with the right x-axis that doesn't no good except switching hands.

I need the ability to invert the x-axis so that right becomes left and left becomes right for both the camera controls for Super Mario 64 like camera control and for making a right-handed fight stick left handed by rotating the physical fight stick 180 degrees, and flipping the left x axis and flipping the left y axis for both of those purposes.

You could remap the left x axis to the right x-axis but you can't flip either axis there's a big difference between remapping axes and flipping axes

Neither your application app for the standard controller nor the Adaptive controller will let you flip the axes. You could flip the y-axis for like flight games but you never thought of flipping the x-axis for Super Mario 64 and for right-handing a fight stick.

I know if the digital inputs are used you could simply map up to be down down to be up as well as right to be left and left to be right on the d-pad and you got a perfectly inverted joystick but some games like ones that use digital movement can't do that easily.

How Do You Flip the X axis on a USB controller plugged into the Adaptive controller

The main issue of the axis flipping is because Super Mario 64 trained me, that if you want to look to see what's on your right you press the secondary joystick left to move Lakitu to the left, and latitude would show straight on which would be towards your right.

The problem is not with Super Mario. The problem is that most games do not have an option to invert x-axis even if they're brilliant enough to let the y-axis be flipped.

Heck, even Nintendo no longer defines Super Mario norms as Normal by making Legend of Zelda work opposite of what Super Mario did.

It's just that whenever I play 3f shooters and platformers where I have to move quick if I have to manipulate the camera while moving at the same time. I don't have enough time to stop and think whether my instinct is right or whether I have to double guess it.

I tried breath of the wild and it's default felt backwards.

I was able to invert that game but the problem came with the motion controls that Nintendo assumes you also want the motion controls backwards too which is opposite of reality.

Also if I get stuck in a fughting game tournament where my joystick breaks, most likely no one else is going to have a right-handed joystick for me to play on. The best I could do is continue by rotating the joystick 180° and remapping the buttons the best way I could based on the upside down layout.

I know the digital directions could be swapped at the OS level.

However if I'm playing something that requires analog something akin to Super Smash Brothers, the X and Y axis on the analog stick both have to be invertible.

Why is the y-axis invertible on both sticks but the x-axis is not invertible unless it's a game specific option and not too many games put that as a specific option.

I thought the whole point of Xbox operating system joystick configuration is so that the third party developers don't have to think of every combination possible. Instead of developers trying to guess what configurations are possible, let the user decide.

Interestingly enough, your buttons are not 100% interchangeable, but that's an issue for another Microsoft topic, since this one deals with invertible axes, or the lack thereof on the Accessories App for either the standard controller or the Adaptive controller.

Thank you for replying on this thread, we do appreciate it a lot. We do understand that the mapping of your controller is still not the one that you are looking for. I just want to make this clear as well for us to isolate the issue as well. Is this only happening to specific games especially for Super Mario only or is this happening to all games?

So that we can conclude and understand if it is only happening to a specific game or all other games for us to conclude on what we can do to troubleshoot.

Just share your thoughts and we are here to reply.

How Do You Flip the X axis on a USB controller plugged into the Adaptive controller

    Hi TripleTopper321

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your controller. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

I understand that you would like to have access to both the Xbox accessories app for the standard controller and the Xbox adaptive controller to be able to remap the x-axis of the sticks. I will do my best to assist you with this concern.

Now, to address your concern, the Xbox accessories app for the standard controller does not allow you to remap the x-axis of the sticks. However, the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller does allow you to remap both the x-axis and y-axis of the sticks.

To access the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller, you will need to connect the controller to your Windows 10 PC using a USB cable or Xbox Wireless Adapter. Once connected, you can download and install the Xbox accessories app from the Microsoft Store.

After installing the app, you can launch it and select the Xbox adaptive controller from the list of connected devices. From there, you can select the stick you want to remap and choose the "Remap button" option. This will allow you to remap both the x-axis and y-axis of the stick to any other button or axis on the controller.

Regarding your concern about remapping the x-axis of the right stick for camera controls, you can use the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller to remap the stick to your desired configuration. For example, you can remap the right stick's x-axis to the left stick's x-axis and vice versa.

As for remapping the x-axis of the left stick for a right-handed fight stick, you can also use the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller to remap the stick to your desired configuration. You can remap the left stick's x-axis to the right stick's x-axis and vice versa.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your issue. I hope all of this information's are helpful. We look forward on your response.
