How do you download captures taken on Xbox Series X from the Xbox app on PC???

You can't, it's not possible. There is a new feature coming soon, that will let you upload your captures to Onedrive automatically, then you can move them to your PC, and do what you want with them. The option you have at the moment, is what you are currently doing.

Thanks for the answer! That's really annoying. I know OneDrive is free to a point, but I hate having to route through it. It's just another thing I have to manage. I really hope they put the download feature in again in the near future. I honestly don't understand why it's not there anyway.

Xbox series x. There is so much documentation about this issue, no-one has a solution (apart from streaming on twitch, saving the vod and then editing the video). Compared with my xbox one captures, taken well over a year ago, they are awful, choppy, stuttering messes. This is not a problem on my end, this is a problem with the xbox series x capture system. The fact captures are STILL terrible is a joke, given the series x was released over 18 months ago.

@jackobite the xbox does do screen shots , double tap middle button then press X , now goto pc and open up the xbox app and navigate to CAPTURES then download to pc
