Don't see an option to import songs. Does there need to be a directory on the USB drive with a particular name? Also do not want to sign up for Groove Music service. Thanks

    :)

There does not need to be a specific directory, however, to import songs to Groove, you actually have to upload the songs to Onedrive. Once they are uploaded to Onedrive, then you can use the Groove music app to play any files that are in your Onedrive.
    Hope this helps.

  5. For external devices with music you can use this app "Simple Background Music Player", with this app you can listen your songs direct from any external device without need to use groove music app.

On this app you only need to create a folder called "Xbox Music Library" on the usb drive and put all songs you want on that folder, then connect the usb drive to an xbox one usb and run this app.

Groove Music only works with OneDrive.
