We understand that your USB microphone does not seem to work with the XBOX game bar after you've changed your gaming setup. The most significant change what appears to be Elgato game capture system.

Just to clear the air, we here in the forums are not well versed with an Elgato game capture system since it's not a Microsoft product. So, the support we provide might be limited when it comes to this issue of yours.

At any rate, a search online reveals that this Elgato system of yours has a setup page for various configurations. I tried going through it, but I could not find one with regards to Xbox game bar. Just with the console. See link below.

So i do have a USB mic connected to my PC to use as my main mic for my stream but I have Astro A50 connected to my xbox for game sound and game chat

Thats what I'm doing.. the only thing I am doing different from playing keyboard/mouse is the controller itself. but when i plug it in every setting on the pc changes to controller mic. Even though the controller has no mic. So I go back through all the
pc settings and xbox companion settings and change it back but the xbox game bar will not let me use the usb mic anymore. I have to unplug the controller and reset the pc to be able to use my mic again. when I start a party in the companion app it says my
mic is working , but if i am in a party on that app for some reason I'm not in a party on the game bar... so if i start a party on the game bar the mic still doesn't work..

You can create and join parties on Windows 10 just like on Xbox. You can do this using the

Windows 10 Game Bar. The people you are playing with can still chat to you using Game Bar even if they are on an Xbox One console.

Something to note:

If your controller is connected to your PC via Bluetooth you'll need to connect a microphone to your mic port on your PC. Chat via a microphone on an Xbox One controller is only available via USB or an Xbox One Gaming Receiver.
