How do I update a new xboxone

I had an xbox one for a while now, how do i update it. Its still brand new. Keeps saying “there was a problem with the update” even after i connected to a wireless network.

I never new thazt ur rank updates on 360 and xboxone version i went on 360 version and im the same rank as xboxone version i fort it was like bf4

1. Why does a brand new console need an update?
