How do I switch my the email on my account? The email currently linked is no longer active...

I currently have an active live account. I want to switch my email to my primary email that I check all the time. How do I go about switching my emails over so it shown on my console. Do I need to create a new account and swap my profile over to it?

Okay, so i found out my current account is linked to an email that is no longer active, and i don't remember the password to change the email to a modern windows live ID..

Is there any way to simply update the email address associated with my profile? The email address is no longer active. Or do I have to create an entirely new microsoft account to update it? Both the above links are instructions how to change the account
to a new account. I just wish to update my email address therefore updating my log in.

I'm not understanding what your asking for. When you say email is no longer active. Was the account closed, or closed due to inactivity - ie. no login for more then 365 days?

If your talking about this account, then how are you able to post in the forums with that account?

So I would like an old account to be switched onto the email address I am currently using with this sheepish account. Probably inactivity, basically my dad used comcast.net for work and back when we had them for cable and stuff too.
But, we all switched to gmail and that email was forgotten. Now I can't get into that email that is associated with my main account.

I never receieved this email. I voiced a concern to Microsoft because the email address that I had originally used for this profile was no longer active. They instructed me how to change my email address to my current one. I have checked junk mail and
nothing has been found
