How do I switch my microsoft account, which is already associated to a gamertag, to another...

All content purchased on your account as a child stays with your account when your birthdate migrates you to an adult account. You don't lose anything. It was with children in mind that this was done.

If the email you are attempting to use is not a Microsoft First-Party email [Xbox Forums Ambassador steeledwand7664
provided these examples above] then by closing your account to "free up" your email, you will lose everything associated with that account.

However, If this is an email such as Gmail or Yahoo, you will still be able to use this email on your primary account without having to close the account, but regarding the info you have provided so far, this does not appear to be the
case.

As per the FAQ that covers the
Microsoft Account on Xbox console "Currently, you can't move your services from one Microsoft account to another. This option may be available in the future."

Additionally there is a slight possibility that you might not be able to use the email that you wish to use, as emails and Gamertags are "held" in a limbo state once you change from
them to something else, and they take some time [maybe even years] before you can use that email or Gamertag.

Xbox Forums Ambassador Puppy Fujo also provided an excellent explination
as to why the
Family groups exist.

I hope this was able to clear up any confusion or turmoil this might have caused.

Because the system is designed so that parents account then creates child accounts as necessary and maintains parental control of all children in their family, not so that parent let's child use gamertag associated with their account.

Keep in mind that ALL purchases stay with the account that purchased them so any games that were purchased on MS account A would stay with that MS account.

So basically you are wanting to take the email that is attached to MS account B and attach it to MS account A is this correct?

Is the email that is attached to MS account B a MS server email I.E. Outlook, Hotmail, live, MSN.com? email

If this is the case then you will NOT be able to use that email with another MS account and if you want to continue to use that email DO NOT remove it as an alias from its current account.

Otherwise if it is not one of the above MS server emails then you should be able to add a new dummy email to account B and make the new dummy email as the primary email on account B then you can remove the email you want on MS account A, ONLY IF IT IS NOT
A MS SERVER EMAIL. Once you remove that email from MS account B then you should be able to add it to MS account A as an alias.

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. In regards to this account issue, you were on the right track when you tried to change the alias for Gamertag A to the email from Microsoft Account B, however, the reason it presented you with the error message is
because the email from Microsoft Account B is still associated with that Microsoft Account. In order for you to change the alias you will first need to Close out Microsoft Account B permanently.

To do so, please follow the link provided for Closing out Microsoft Account, this link will show you
how to close out the Microsoft account for Account B. Once that's done you will have to wait 60 days for the closure to be final, then you will be able to
Change the Alias on Microsoft Account A to the email from Microsoft B thus associating Gamertag
A with the email from Microsoft B. This is the only way to do so as we cannot "switch" one gamertag for another.
