How do I stop my Xbox One from switching itself on?

Switch to power saving mode. If this did not work you should fully boot the console down.

Well, I have an Xbox One original with no skins or dirt anywhere, nothing on or around it, and it constantly turns itself on with no user input whatsoever. My console has always been set to Power Saving. I've watched it just come on for no reason many many times! I finally unplugged it from the electrical outlet and plugged it into a Power Strip. Now, when I'm done playing and select the Full Shutdown like I always have, I switch off the power strip and I don't have it come back on again until I want it to. However, sometimes when I get done playing I select the Full Shutdown and then get busy with other things (like watching YouTube videos in the Roku) and I forget to turn off the power strip. Next thing I know the Xbox comes on again and it really makes me angry. Sorry to yell, but... THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND MICROSOFT NEVER CHOSE TO ADDRESS IT OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Just search the Internet elsewhere and you'll see it happens more often than it doesn't. This answer, while appreciated, isn't going to help most people with this issue because there's a hardware problem with the original Xbox One that causes it to randomly turn on without provocation. Just imagine the amount of electricity wasted the world over from consoles that magically turn themselves on in the middle of the night when no one is looking...

Apologies for not getting back to you all sooner, however my Xbox was already set to power save mode when I checked.

just turn on power saving in settings. using skins or something on top of the xbox can cause unnecessary launches.

It's could also be enabled on your TV.
