How do I stop my xbox from asking for password for family accounts? This just started...

Have you checked the sig in preferences?

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings.

Under Account, select Sign-in, security & PIN.

Select Change my sign-in & security preferences.

So the account isnt set up as a family account. Can i just keep account as it is but move it to family or do i need to create a new account under family ? My concern is if i do will i be able to transfer everything as it is now over to the new ? Or as
i asked first , can i just edit my account now and change from individual account to family account ?

Thanks for your reply, have you tried to completely remove his account from the xbox then re adding it. When you add an account (profile) it asks for details including email address and password.

Also your son may have set the account for automatic start up not requiring a password.

A few ideas:

Go through the xbox settings and check everything in the accounts, profiles and family.

Go to your microsoft acciunt online and check everything there.

Remove your son from family and remove his profile from the Xbox then redownload it.

Also,how do I prevent him from using my Microsoft account on xbox.com aswell as on my Xbox One because he added himself to my Microsoft family thingy on xbox.com and can change the password on xbox.com.

So let's start at the beginning, when you tried to edit the Online Safety settings, it asked for a WLID and password? Are you currently on a child account, or a Secondary account on a Family Plan? This prompt isn't asking for your WLID/password, but that
of the Parent Account.
