How do I start a challenge on Shape Up?

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue with your Xbox Kinect.

Does the game give you an error saying that Kinect is not detected? Or is the video just a black screen?

Have you looked through the game's options to see if there's anything you need to enable?

Shapes will be unlocked via challenges.

I've been doing the 10 minute work outs. Found myself really out of breath after the cardio one and I'm not THAT out of shape lol. Like how it tracks it all as well and you unlock all the challenges etc.

For starters I would go with the first Your Shape Fitness Evolved. Zumba is more Latin dancing, and if you don't care for Lady Gaga or Flo Rida then pass on the dancing games. I still do YSFE from time to time. If you're looking for a challenge partner if
you do pick up the game drop me a message. You can unlock extra stuff in the game by doing challenges with online friends. Hope this helps.

I like how they start up the challenges again after skipping a month then act like nothing happened or they did anything wrong.
