how do i reset my xbox elite controller?

i have recently been experiencing problems when i make certain button or analog inputs on certain games where it is performing tasks that are not currently in my button layout. for example on rocket league, my trigger buttons are my forward and reverse and my left analog stick is my directional control. lately, if i press up on my left analog stick, it is giving the input of my left trigger

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your controller to the point where you need to reset it. To reset your controller, you need the Xbox accessories app.

The Xbox Accessories app comes pre-installed on Xbox consoles. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select My games & apps > See all > Apps, and then choose Xbox Accessories.

To open the Xbox Accessories app on Windows, press the Start button, type Xbox Accessories or choose it from the list, and then sign in. If the app isn’t installed on your PC, get it here:

To reset your controller, select your controller in the app and choose Configure. Choose a profile, and then select Edit > Restore to default. This returns your controller to its original factory configuration.

I don't own an xbox one, but I have an elite controller which I use on my PC. How then do I register the controller?

I tried all this things and reset xbox. so it is only happening with my elite controller now, my older controller is working fine.

i know this is his question but he said elite controller to a adapter not a regular xbox one controller on the link it says how to connect adapter from pc to xbox one controller he needs a elite controller adapter because all he is finding is regular xbox
one adapters to pc which he stated do not work for his elite controller

I also have to retur my elite series 2 but how do i send the controller back with bear nothing on the controller or with what it came with
