How do I recover an old account that uses the same email address?

However, to link my old email address to my hotmail account is not possible as i can only link other hotmail email addresses to my hotmail account.

I tried to recover my old email address and was informed by the email address provider that it was not only deactivated but also terminated and not recoverable as i havent used it in 10+ years.

Is there any other way to help change my old xbox live email address? Perhaps microsoft could change it manually? Given that i can verify that it is my account via Identification card, phone number or facebook as i use the same email address there as i do on my xboxlive account.

It sounds to me like you have also forgotten your original email address. If you created a new account with the same email address as your old account, it would have told you to use a different email address because your old one is still active. Do you
have that original profile on your xbox console? If so double check the email address, Settings>Account>Your Information. That email address is tied to your original gamertag and has to be used to recover that gamertag and all gaming info.

No Microsoft employee will tell you a Microsoft account email address. Doesn't matter how much "proof" you send them.

Do you know the password but not the email address of the account?

I don't have access to the email the account is linked to, Time Warner Cable had control of the email when they merged into Spectrum, so I lost the email and it was before 2 step verification was a thing. All I have is the email the account is linked too
and the Gamertag.
