  1. How do I prevent Kernel-EventTracing error that causes pc to crash?

    Hello,

I’ve just recently upgraded my motherboard and cpu and ever since i have been getting an error when trying to play games that says “The backing-file for the real-time session "Mgr" has reached its maximum size. As a result, new events will not be logged to this session until space becomes available. This error is often caused by starting a trace session in real-time mode without having any real-time consumers.” with the error code: 3221225864

How do I prevent this from happening?

***Moved from Windows / Windows 11 / Performance and system failures***

    :)

How do I prevent Kernel-EventTracing error that causes pc to crash?

    Hello Christopher Lohse,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Microsoft Answers Community.

Based on the description, a log file has reached the maximum allowed size, and new events will not be recorded. It is likely that something is filling up the event log very quickly when you play the game. Usually, it is caused by something in the system being broken.

Since you have replaced the CPU and motherboard, please note that modern computers have various controllers integrated there, so replacing them should be treated as using a new computer. It is likely that the error happened because the drivers do not match.

Based on the situation, I recommend backing up all your personal files to external storage (like USB sticks, external hard drives, and memory cards), and perform a clean reinstallation of Windows 11, which erases all the data and starts you from scratch.

To do so, please prepare a USB stick that is at least 8 GB in size (do not use the one with your backups, since it will be erased), then download and run the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool on another computer. Follow the instructions, and when selecting the media type, please select "USB stick", and then select the drive letter the USB stick is in.

After creating the installation media, please plug it into your computer, and boot from it in UEFI mode. The exact procedure differs among motherboard manufacturers, so please refer to the user manual for details.

Also, please check the following BIOS options, as some motherboards use RAID mode by default which needs specific storage drivers that may not be compatible with the latest version of Windows:

    • SATA controller mode: Change to AHCI mode (even if there is no SATA disk)
    • NVMe RAID mode: Turn off
    • Intel Rapid Storage Technologies/AMD StoreMI: Turn off
Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

After booting, please select "Install now". Follow the instructions, and when selecting the installation type, select "Custom: Install Windows only". On the next installation screen, please delete all the partitions (including EFI, reserved, and recovery ones) in your system disk. Select the unallocated space and select "Next". The installer will partition your system disk automatically.

Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

PC keeps crashing, especially when launching Destiny 2

    Hello, Andreas S.Hammersland

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for your feedback. I read the information you provided. You mentioned that your computer frequently crashes when running Destiny 2, and it also randomly restarts in the desktop state.

According to the error code you provided,

Kernel-Power Event ID 41: This usually means that the system did not shut down properly, which may be a power problem or hardware failure.

Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 28: It may be related to a specific driver or hardware device.

DistributedCOM Event ID 10010: It is usually related to a specific application or service failing to start or responding timeout.

Kernel-PnP Event ID 219: It is usually related to device driver problems, especially HID devices.

If the problem only occurs when playing Destiny 2, it may be a problem with the game itself that causes the computer to crash, so you can also try to update the driver and check whether the game files of Destiny 2 are complete. The method is as follows.

You can download the latest driver for your graphics card from the official AMD website. The link is below.

Drivers and Support for Processors and Graphics (amd.com)

Please open your gaming platform to perform a game integrity check. Since I don't know your gaming platform, please check it yourself.

If you have tried the above methods and the problem still exists, you can also contact the game support staff and explain your problem to them. They will provide you with more help. Please click the link below to submit your problem.
