    How do I know what is enough information for the Recover your account


    I no longer have access to my email that I used for my old Microsoft account, and I am trying to get back into it. I have done the reset form so many times by now, but each time it is an automated response telling me that my information is not enough. I answered all the questions accurately, so what more is there to do? It asked for Xbox information, but I don't have the old Xbox to grab the serial id so all I can give is the username, which is not very helpful since its just my email handle. I last logged into this account about a year ago, but I haven't made a purchase on the account for at least 8 years back when I played on my 360, so I have no idea which of my parents' cards were used, but I have tried them all. I really don't understand why it doesn't ask me for any security questions, I could have sworn I set some up.

    anyway, does anybody have experience with this tool actually working? I wish it could tell me what info I was getting wrong OR maybe im not just giving enough info even though it is right? Is it possible to retrieve an account with just "recent" passwords? or do I need to fill out a skype/card/xbox/whatever?

    Well then you didn't provide them enough information to prove it is your account. There is nothing any of us can do to help you if you don't know enough information to recover your account.

    Simply select that you have not used an Xbox console.

    Unfortunately there is no way to know what information is enough to recover an account, you just have to keep trying.

    In order to recover an account, you need information about that account to prove your ownership of it...if you can't remember enough information to recover it, then there's nothing you can do other than trying to remember the information. Even if you phoned support and spoke to someone, they would still require the same information.

    I understand how much distress it is causing. Unfortunately, to ensure the integrity of Microsoft's service and your security, this is the only way to recover the account.

    If you know you are putting in the right information, it is only a matter of time until you get accepted.

    I wish I could provide more information on the issue - please keep trying and do not lose hope. Right now what you are doing is the best way to recover the account. =D

    Hey there xX1SiL3nCe1Xx!

    What I suggest trying is to recover your Microsoft account/password on the "bad" email (sbcglobal.com) by navigating to our
    Recover your Microsoft account page and fill out the required information.

    Once that particular Microsoft account is recovered, feel free to follow the steps that IDoTheKnocking provided above.

    Give those steps a shot and let us know how it goes!
