Now i think about this again it's not a good idea if people are only after digtal codes the they going to get rid of the box and it's going to be a waste of packaging. Now i am thinking will they start doing codes like they do with gift cards and print
it on the receipt for you to use.

Is this a physical code that you purchased on a third party reseller? If so, they are responsible for your code. Unfortunately Xbox cannot help you with this.

I would advise you to go back to the store you purchased it and ask for a replacement.
