    How do I get the Xbox 360 wired controller to work on windows 11?


    I am attempting to play some older games on my system and would like to use the xbox 360 controller with them. However, I am encountering an error:
    "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API."

    That is the message in Device Manager.

    Within 'Settings>Bluetooth & Devices>Devices' the message is: "Driver error"
    I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers through the Device Manager, attempting to update the drivers too. However, none of it worked. And I was also unable to find the drivers online to reinstall them manually. I would really appreciate it if anyone was able to help with this issue. Thank you for your time.

    Hello Alan,I believe that it will not be possible to use the Xbox 360 controller on Windows 10 the same is not compatible with Windows 10, there are only drivers for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    If your controller isn't working on other PC running Windows 11 it tells me something is wrong with your controller.

    There aren't any compatibility issues with older Xbox 360 controllers and Windows 11. I've just tried my old Xbox 360 wired controller in my brand new Windows 11 based PC and it works fine. The fact that it isn't working now is likely coincidental.

    I have a VERY similar issue... i think you are talking about a wired 360 controller, but I am more specifically talking about a wired 360 guitar (controller). mine also is recognized by windows 10 as a 360 controller (not a guitar), and despite everything I do with them (i have 2)... it will not work on my xbox 1 x through windows 10 (and the xbox companion app built into windows 10). I was able to get my xbox 1 wired regular controller to work using windows 10. if you find an answer, please let me know, it will likely fix my issue as well, even though my issue is slightly different

    So to understand the situation you are on Windows 7 and you cannot find the driver for the Xbox controller but a Logitech controller does work when wired, is that correct?

    If so, are you trying to use an Xbox 360 controller, and have you tried it wired as well?
