How do i get sound from my headset when connected to the controller

whenever I connect my wired headset to the Xbox x controller I cannot hear anything in my headset, although before i could randomly it just stopped i tried restarting my console and charged my controllers both i tried on both. Even so i cannot hear anything even after chaning my audio settings from stereo uncompressed to everything else and restarting the console. The headset works perfectly fine with my laptop and everything else so i dont think its the problem. is there anything i can do?

Have you checked if your controllers are fully updated?

First I would start with plugging the controller directly into the Xbox and see if that works. If not plug it into your computer and play audio. If there is still no sound, try using another controller to see if that solves the problem. Your welcome.

Does your headset get its game sound from the controller or from a different source. For example my headset us an optical headset and receives game audio from the optical port in the xbox, then sends it wirelessly to my headset. To get chat I have to plug
into the controller. In my case I get 2 sources of game sound if my slider in my mixer is allowing game sound from my controller. I have to make sure its slid all the way to just chat. Maybe when the UI change it reset this setting?

I am having the exact same issue as wardogreaper!

2 controllers, 2 headsets and no matter how i connect i get zero sound through the headset.

None of those troubleshooting steps are appropriate to my situation. As evident from the fact that sound plays out of other connected listening devices, there is no issue in my sound settings; and I cannot change the volume or similar, as the device and
accessory settings are not acknowledging that there is a headset connected (and there is sound when connected to other headsets). I am aware that this option appears below "buzz" in the device and accessory settings.

It is not that the mic is not recording, or that sound is not coming through the headset, it is that the controller won't recognise that there is anything plugged in when combined with my headset (even though it can recognise other devices, and the headset
is working).
