How do I get my HDMI input to read my Xbox One S?

    Hey Xbox Community,

I am running into an issue where my HDMI input isnt picking up my Xbox One S. At first it was showing a preview of the Xbox when looking at the input options but as soon as I would select the Input the HDMI cable is plugged into, it would shut down the Xbox...now it doesn't even pick up the Xbox in any of the HDMI input options.

I have tried holding down the power button, unplugging the Xbox, plugging it back in, pressing and holding the sync and eject button and then pressing the Xbox power button once while continuing to hold the eject and sync button till I hear 2 beeps but it didn't work. I also tried switching the HDMI cables, the ports, TVs, etc. And still nothing. I have even tried the first method but just holding the eject button and again but only holding the sync button and still nothing. It has done this in the past about 4 or so months ago and we somehow got it working again about 2 days later but can't remember how. From our memory it was due to needing to lower the Xbox resolution but can't do that if the above methods aren't working so that we can see the Xbox video to lower the resolution :/

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and thank you all in advance!

    :)

How do I get my HDMI input to read my Xbox One S?

Hello That1GuyJrOF. I'm Arturo, and I'll be glad to provide assistance with your inquiry today.

I'm sorry to hear that your Xbox is not displaying video.

Not only that, but I would like to ask, connecting the console to another TV change something, or no matter to which screen you connect the Xbox, no image appears?

If the image doesn't show up no matter to which screen you connect the console, it could be a hardware issue.

However, before you consider that, I would like to ask if you tried to check if the console display signal by attempting to bring up the Xbox startup troubleshooter and perform a factory reset if you see the screen.

“Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button on the console, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

Note, The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 and 4) and then pressing the Xbox button.
Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10–15 seconds.
Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.
The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.”

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Arturo.

    Pioneer vsx-1021-k question

This is how my setup goes. I have the HDMI from my cable box going to the HDMI input on the Xbox one. Then I have the HDMI output from the Xbox one going to the HDMI game input on my receiver. Then I have the HDMI output from the receiverrunning the TV.

The only thing I can think of is make sure the receiver is set to the correct input.

5.1 Uncompressed audio via HDMI connection

After reading some other forums, I changed the Video setting on the Xbox One from "Auto-detect" to "HDMI." After doing this, I was able to select "5.1 uncompressed" from the audio menu on the Xbox without getting an error. However, at
this point, I was getting no sound. After a few hours of frustration (I thought it might be an HDMI handshake issue), I decided to hook my Xbox One directly to my sound bar via an extra HDMI input on the sound bar and then hook the sound bar up to my TV using
my HDMI ARC input. I now have surround sound!

The downside is that when I switch HDMI inputs on the TV, I have to switch inputs on the sound bar as well. I thought the promise of ARC was that the TV would act as the switcher for audio.

I won't complain at this point, but any thoughts on why I would need to hook the Xbox One directly to my sound bar for surround sound to work vs. hooking the sound bar up to my ARC input? When I didn't have a direct HDMI connection between the Xbox One
and the sound bar, I could get stereo uncompressed sound just fine. Is it a limitation of the TV? Could it be an outdated HDMI cord? Any thoughts appreciated.

HDMI throughport for TVs with Game Mode

Not sure I explained it clearly enough. My TV has 3 HDMI inputs, all of which can be configured for PC, Game Mode, TV etc etc. The Game Mode makes the XBOX input fill the screen and overall looks better than say in TV mode. So if the input from the XBOX
One is set to Game Mode, then I switched the XBOX One to throughput the TV signal, then I would be watching the preset HDMI in Game Mode even though I was watching a TV/Tivo channel, if that makes sense.

    .

    So to recap

    .

My TV has one HDMI port set to TV input and another one set to Game Mode input, and I simply change the input depending on wether it is a game I want to play or a TV channel to watch.

    .

But if one HDMI input is being used by both XBOX One and a TV signal input, then the TV's HDMI port setting will only default to the one I set it to in the first place

    .

So it is the TV that determines what display I will get regardless of what signal the XBOX One sends.

    .

If that doesn't confuse you then nothing will, already getting a headache just re-reading it
