So I recently bought a 8tb game hub for my Xbox series s to add storage, i formatted it and got everything working. But after I spent hours transferring things, it wouldn’t allow me to play my games that are needed to be on the console. I have friends who bought the 2tb hard drives and it works perfectly fine for the same use, but the 8tb doesn’t. Is there a way to fix it? Or did I just waste my money?

    :)

How do I get my 8tb seagate game hub to allow me to play Xbox series s/x games?

    Hi Danny

I am happy to try and help you but please note that this is a community form and is staffed by volunteers and gamers just like you - not Microsoft staff. We have no access to accounts, Microsoft systems or customer information and can only offer helpful advice.

External drives connected by USB cannot be used to play Series S/X games because USB is not able to handle the amount of data throughput required for those games and often the devices cannot, either. Series S/X games will only play from the internal SSD or official Expansion SSD cards because these are hooked right into the system architecture, which is designed for large data transfer rates at high speeds. Although you would need to transfer any Series X/S games or older games optimised for Series X/S to the internal SSD or Expansion card to play them, you can still happily play XBOX, XBOX360, XBOX One and XBOX One X/S games off of your hub.

    I hope that helps :)

There's not a way to fix it. Series S/X optimized games will only run from the internal drive or one of the expansion cards that were specifically created for those consoles. Other hard drives/SSDs can only be used for storage and will run backwards compatible games.

External drives for the XBox One X

the 8TB Game Drive Hub made by Seagate works really well, but if you can find an SSD External drive it would be better but it will cost more. The Seagate I referred to is HDD but it works fine.

    External hard drive

I have a 2TB Seagate that has worked great over the last few years. I've also added an 8TB Seagate game hub that works great as well, just a little more in price.

I am writing to share my feedback and offer a valuable suggestion regarding the Xbox Series X/S,

I understood, and I will do it.

But, are questions allowed in this community?

If yes, please I’m seeking advice or information regarding the possibility of installing two Seagate Storage Expansion Cards on the Xbox Series S or X consoles. Is there any known hub or adapter that could facilitate multiple expansion cards installed at the unit port?

    Thanks, Gerardo
