How do i force microsoft store game to use dedicated GPU?

I have a desktop with two GPUs, integrated intel and dedicated NIVIDA RTX 3050. I know how to change the preferred GPU on normal apps, cause I have the access to the exe file of them. However, I installed some games from Xbox Game Pass and when I try to change the GPU settings, the game still uses the integrated GPU. System -> Display -> Graphics -> Add an app "Microsoft Store App" and I add the game, change the settings, and nothing. I also tried to use the "Desktop App" browsing option and find the exe file, but since the game is from Xbox, either there is no specific exe file or I don't have permission to open it as it is in the WindowsApps folder, which is protected. I tried to run the game and then change the program settings in Nivida Control Panel as well. Still nothing. So how do I force a game to use different GPU?

Hi,

Did you try to change it from the list, sorted A-Z in the Nvidia Control panel? Using Forza Horizon 5 as an example below. Once you find your game in the list, you can click 'Add Selected Program'

The PC games via the Xbox app can't be accessed via 'Browse' button as the games are protected.

Once you click Add Selected Program you should be able to select the 'High Performance Nvidia Processor' as the default GPU at the driver level.

Thank you for sharing this information. Since your GPU usage is 0% when you play Game Pass games, I'm almost sure that they are not using the RTX 3090 to process the games.

Would you please follow the steps on the website below to try to force the Xbox app and your installed games to use your dedicated Nvidia GPU?

Hello, chxnsa. Please try forcing the Game Bar to use your dedicated GPU:

Open PC Settings and go to System > Display > Graphics.

Click the drop-down and select “Microsoft Store app” > click “Browse” > Click on the “Xbox Game Bar”.

Click on the app recently added below > Options > High Performance.

Restart your PC and try to record some gameplay.
