How do I fix minor gamma effect

hello to all I’m currently having a problem with my all of my series x games and even xbox one games. I’ve recently got my series x through Amazon, once hooked up I put my storage drive from my Xbox one over to series x. once I finally got into the games there was weird gamma glitches happing across my screen, they were small but noticeable. I thought this was jus on games that were transferred from my drive so I deleted all the games and transferred them over to my internal. this gamma glitch keep happening, I thought it was the hdmi so I changed it. still has the gamma effect. I thought it was my monitor (can’t run 4k but it’s not old or broken). still the same effect when I switched monitors that could run 4k. I adjusted some of my setting like resolution/video modes/ video fidelity. None worked. I need help about now because if I don’t I will be returning this Xbox for another which is my last resort incase I can’t fix it.

    :)

How do I fix minor gamma effect

    Hello Pyx - ,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you're experiencing gamma glitches on your Xbox Series X, and Xbox One games. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

May we know what is make and model of the TV?

Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

    1. Check your TV or monitor settings: Make sure that your TV or monitor is set to the correct display mode and that the gamma settings are not too high or too low.

    2. Check your Xbox display settings: Go to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video modes and make sure that your display settings are set to the correct resolution and refresh rate.

    3. Update your Xbox: Make sure that your Xbox is up to date with the latest software updates. You can check for updates by going to Settings > System > Updates & downloads.

    4. Reset your Xbox display settings: Go to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video fidelity & overscan and select "Reset display settings."

If none of these steps work, you may want to try using different TV or monitor to test if this issue is isolated.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

4K 30bits and 36 bits combined with full-rgb output broken.

To add salt to the wound. The gamma curve is still skewed on the Xbox One S. I wonder how MS wants to do HDR with an incorrect gamma curve.

    Yes, RGB+Expanded gives full range.

I'm unsure of what the default output gamma curve is on the Xbox 360, but games can differ quite a lot in how they approach gamma. The output gamma ramp is possibly set using a proper lookup table instead of a piece-wise linear approximation as used in the
sRGB to linear conversion in rendering.

What is the "right" display gamma is quite debated, but on CRT broadcast monitors it's been estimated to be around the 2.2 - 2.5 range if I remember correctly (ITU specifies an assumed average display gamma of 2.35). The effective encoded gamma in the BT.709
standard is around 1÷1.97, but in practice it still assumes that the display gamma is higher.

The best gamma curve is very dependent on viewing conditions. 1.9 would likely give too bright midtones, and I'd shoot for 2.2 - 2.5 instead. The 10-point gamma adjustment is only useful for calibration, to ensure that the curve is as smooth as possible.
It requires a calibration tool and software to be useful.
