How do I enter a Game Pass code, without having to make it a subscription?

My Xbox Game Pass Core code does not work. I ordered it off of Amazon and have paid for it in full, but it is requesting a payment method regardless. The code is fully functional as the server recognizes it, but refuses to let it work.

If it asks for a payment method, then you have to add one. There's no way to bypass that.

Hi, i enter codes for gamepass quite often and always make sure that the option for recurring subscription is unchecked. I have never had to give credit/debit card details. Is it a Game Pass or Game Pass ultimate code you have?

Make sure you redeem on an account without an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. Accounts with an active subscription cannot redeem these trial codes. Note, Trial codes may not work if you previously had one of these subscriptions on this account.

If you have an active Game Pass subscription, it is impossible to redeem the code, let me know if this is your case.

Sometimes the redeem code for a Game Pass subscription is only for new users... so, if you already have a Game Pass subscription in your account before it makes you ineligible to redeem the code..

You can try using other account without a previous Game Pass subscription...
