How do I enable my router to allow IPv6 instead of IPv4?

Several home routers support IPv6 but disable it by default. Check the manual for your router.

I ran across this problem today, as my ISP has enabled IPv6 for their customers. I own Apple Airport's as my routers. I made some changes on my router to block incoming IPv6 connections, and this broke the chat functions for multiplayer. I had to modify
my Airport Base Station config to allow Teredo Tunnels. This solved the issue for me.

For my Routers this was a simple checkbox, but you will need to consult your router documentation to make sure that Teredo connections are allowed. The benefit of IPv6 is that your Xbox and other connected devices get a publicly routed IP address, instead
of a NAT'd IPv4 Address. This allows you to not have to worry about NAT issues, Port Forwarding, and uPnP.

I wanted to share for others who do not want to disable IPv6 on their routers.

Do you know if you ISP supports IPv6? Your router could be tunneling your IPv4 connection to an IPv6 which basically means it is sending IPv6 packets through an IPv4 connection to communicate with IPv6 servers. I found out myself the xbox doesn't
like this at all. My ISP doesnt support IPv6. When I would look at my connection on my xbox it would say IPv4 and IPv6. So O went into my router settings and sure enough my router was set to tunnel IPv4 to IPv6. I went through set to IPv4 only and it solved
my problem. This causes a teredo error in your xbox.

Does your ISP make IPV6 available? There are still quite a few that only offer IPV4

Is IPV6 enabled on your router? Apparently some routers have it disabled by default and so it needs enabling within the router settings.... the router manual should tell you how.
