How do I disconnect my son's account from parental controls?

We set up his account almost 10 years ago. The phone number that we used to set up the account is connected to my son's email address. I do not any information about what email address I used to set this up. We need to disconnect the parental controls, as he is 17 years old. Or help us connect so we might be able to approve the games when he wants to purchase them.

My son has managed to disconnect his xbox account from the family control screen in the xbox. He is now able to look at allsorts of stuff unsuitable for kids through his account. How can I add him back to the parental controls on the xbox. There appears
to be no guide on how to do this?

I need a simple step by step guide explaining how to add a child to the family control on xbox?

Do you mean to cancel parental controls in Windows? According to your description, you have not added the account to the family group. The specific method of adding the family group is as follows:

Use a web browser to visit Microsoft Family Safety ， log in to your Microsoft account (it needs to be an adult account), then select "Add a family member", enter the family member's phone number or email address, and click Next. Determine the family member role (member or organizer), then click Next > Invite. It should be noted that the invitee will receive a link to join via email. It will prompt to log in to their Microsoft account to accept and join the family group. If you are under the legal age, you will also receive a prompt to request adult permission when performing some operations (such as purchasing games).

I was trying to purchase a minecraft for my son on his PC, and it said that a message was sent to parent approval and would let him know when it was approved. I have no idea where this approval is being sent. I don't see it in any of the emails that we have in our family.
