How do I customize my classic gamertag?

According to the Xbox gamertag FAQ | Xbox Support If you make a paid change (your first change with the new system is free), you’re given the option to customize how you’re seen in older experiences that can’t show the new format.

As for the suffix (# after your name) The suffix is auto-assigned by Xbox to make sure everyone is unique. We don’t allow players to select their own suffix at this time.

Nothing wrong with that screen

What you are realizing is that's the limit on how you can customize it

The hashtag is NOT Chooseablr

It's randomized to prevent double gamertags

That being said your only customization options is to have the number together with your name

That's thenonly custom part

Your classic name is destroyer1618

The only custom.part is the name you choose that's it

As hayabusa mentioned

The classic gamertag you are referring to is how your name is displayed on older games destroyer1618 as in your example

Your new gamertag would be destroyer#1618

As per the new system

The reason being is older games don't support symbols

So the classic gamertag is destroyer1618

I don"t have the option to customize, thats what I need. Did you read my original post?

I know that I cant do anything about the hashtags but I want to customize the classic one

So if I change my name once for the free change, and again for the $10 change, the $10 change will show the customize option?

Yes, that's how it should work.

I suggest if you want to do so, use a temporary name to change to for the free change, because I don't think you can solely change the classic name without changing your main gamer tag as well.

For example, for the free change don't use "Destroyer" if that is what you plan to use.

Just remember that your in-game name may vary depending on the title.
