How do I connect my external sonos sound system to the xbox X (not series)

I’ve had the first generation Xbox for a while now. I just upgraded and bought the Xbox X, however, there’s no audio coming out of my Sonos sound system. With the first generation Xbox, the sound came out with no issue. I’ve tried messing around with the speaker audio settings, and changing every optical audio setting there is. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to connect, an external sound system through the optical on the Xbox X ? currently I have the optical cord going from my sonos playbar to my tv as that’s how my first gen xbox produced sound. I see on the back of the xbox x there’s an optical port so I’m now incredibly confused

    :)

How do I connect my external sonos sound system to the xbox X (not series)

    Hello Cameron Rao,

Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome to Xbox Forums.

I'm happy to help you with your concern. To connect your external Sonos sound system to your Xbox X, you can follow these steps:

    • Check your TV's Audio Settings: Make sure your TV is set to output audio to the optical port. You might need to go into your TV's audio settings and change the audio output to "external speaker" or "audio system".
    • Check your Xbox's audio settings: Go to the system tab on your Xbox, then settings, then Display and sound and then, Audio Output. Make sure the HDMI audio is set to "Bitstream out", and the Bitstream format is set to "Dolby Digital".
    • Use an HDMI/Optical Switch: If your TV doesn't have an optical output, you can use and HDMI/Optical switch. This will allow you to connect your Xbox to your TV via HDMI for video, and to your Sonos system via optical for audio.

After following these steps, the audio from your Xbox X should now be coming out of your Sonos sound system. If you're still not getting any audio, you can try resetting your Xbox X and Sonos Playbar, or try using a different optical cable.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Additionally, you can check out this article from the Xbox support website for more information: Connect your Xbox console to a sound system | Xbox

How do I connect my Xbox to my Sonos system

Not directly, if your receiver or TV has an audio out you could do it that way. So you will want to shift your research to your TV or Receiver to connect to your Sonos systems.

How to transfer xbox one games to series x?

You should be able to do that, yes:

    "Power down your Xbox One.

    1. Unplug the external drive.
    2. Connect the external drive to your Xbox Series X, S.
    3. Power on your Xbox Series X, S.
    4. Wait for the external drive to be detected. This may take a couple of minutes.
    5. When the drive is detected, you are free to copy any games you want onto the Xbox Series X, S internal storage."

Will XBox Series X support external DAC/Amp hardware via USB?

I’m no where in your league guys. I’ve got a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround sound connected to Xbox One X using optical, which is good for my needs. How am I going to connect to the Series X. Am I going to have to buy a new system and if so which one? I am
also using a Asus MG24UQ monitor.
