How do I close my Xbox account but not my Hotmail (Microsoft) account?

Hi there,

Does anybody know how I can close my Xbox account, but not my Microsoft and Hotmail account?

I didn't want the Xbox account to start with, never signed up for it willingly, it was just imposed and I don't want it.

I want to close my Hotmail account, but it says I can't because I have Microsoft Points account. Please close/cancel/delete my Microsoft Points account so I can close my Hotmail account.

Okay, so over a year ago I set up my xbox live account to sign in with my microsoft account, completely forgetting that my microsoft hotmail account was hacked. I want to remove it but can't seem to figure out how.

I've tried everything that hotmail has told me to do but nothing works.

All you can really do is ignore it. Once an Xbox account is created there is no way to completely delete it.

Hey doomey! If you're worried, you can change your Microsoft account email on your Xbox 360 console by taking the following steps:

Navigate to the Settings Hub (far right on the dashboard) and select Account.

Navigate to Your Information panel and select Account Security.

Select Change Microsoft Account.

Select Yes once you have created a new Microsoft Account.

Enter the password for your current Microsoft Account.

Enter the Microsoft Account and password you would like to use.

Complete the prompts to save your change.

I can't close my hacked hotmail account because it is linked to my Xbox account. Xbox won't let me change settings. Help.

If your email address on your son's account is a Microsoft one (@live, @hotmail, @outlook) then you won't be able to change it. If you do it will close down your Microsoft email and you won't have access to any of the services linked to it.

I never used my hotmail account so i never created any folders or sent any emails which means that i cant answer half the questions on the form. The only ones i can answer are those of name, address and passwords etc. I even gave a pre paid Microsoft points
card number.

What will happen to my Gamertag/xbox if i closed my hotmail account? Assuming i can do so without my password?
