When you choose data from the cloud, it is usually downloaded locally so that access to it is more efficient and you can access it offline, in doing so, the data you have stored locally is overwritten, i.e. replaced.

I think the issue on this is due to the save data. Since Xbox Live backs up the console data and makes it available on cloud for download it would be how he would get it on his PC. It sounds like his PC isn't getting the most recent version of the save
data from the cloud. Depending on your internet speed it could take a little while to sync a Minecraft world to the cloud. Try leaving the Xbox turned on for a little while and give it some time to fully sync. On the Xbox you can also use the menu button to
view the manage data and see user data as well as save data and make from there you will be able to see the most recent locally saved data and the most recent cloud data, if both of those are showing the same then at least you know its the proper save data
in the cloud. If all of that worked, he might need to see if he can redownload the synced data on the PC version, but if I had to guess the issue is likely on the data just waiting to be uploaded to the cloud from the Xbox.

There's one thing i can think of to try get your data back,

You'll need to install the Xbox App and then install Forza Horizon 5 from Gamepass Xbox App on to your PC/Laptop as all your save data is now stored somewhere on your PC/Laptop local storage,

Once done,

Launch Forza Horizon 5 from the Xbox App, not from Cloud Gaming and don't let the data sync as you'll have two different data saves, one is now local on your PC ( your main save data ), the other from the Cloud ( your new fresh start data ), you don't want to overwrite the save data that you accidentally saved to your PC's local storage,



The game needs to load the save data from your local storage on PC to get your save data back,

Once you've loaded FH5 from the Xbox App and you are in game,

You should be able to see everything back after you've done this, then let the game save and you can exit, and then try launch FH5 from Cloud Gaming, let the data sync/ sync to the cloud and you should have everything back, hopefully.

I am signed in to the same accounts on both iPhone and PC. Games will not save on iPhone nor PC, even though when possible I attempt to load my save data from the cloud. Cloud storage doesn’t have any saved data regardless of the device I use. I’ve been trying all day long to get it to save my games but it just won’t work
