How do i add space from 1 drive to another.

So I am trying to download a large game however my C drive doesn't have enough space however my D drive has a ton of space since there's only 1 item on there and I'm wondering how to transfer space onto my C drive or make it so that the game would be on my D drive.

Hi,

You can't transfer space from D drive to C drive because these drives are a separate physical storage devices. You should be able to install games directly to the D:\ drive. You can move installed games and apps between drives though.

You'll need to free up some storage from your C:\ drive soon, either by moving games and apps to your D:\ drive or uninstalling unused apps or games from the C:\ drive. If you don't free up storage you won't be able to update your Windows installation.

This guide explains how to move games to different drives. How you move them depends what system the game was installed with (Xbox App, Steam, Epic), but all the main one's are included here.

Hi Samantha!

Have you already changed your install location through the Xbox app?

Open your Xbox app > Settings > General. Set your location to D drive where you want to install your new games

BrandonSchroeders,

Check the space on your hard drive

View your notifications on your Xbox One console to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to install the content. Here’s how:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Communication > Messages from Xbox Live.
See if there are any notifications about low or unavailable hard drive space. Xbox One will alert you when you’re running low.
If there’s a notification about low hard drive space, you’ll have to either delete content to free up space or add an external drive. For information about setting up and managing external storage, see How
to manage storage on Xbox One.

For info on how to delete items from your hard drive, see Uninstall Xbox One games or apps to free hard drive space.

So, with that hard drive, how much space shows as free when you do
Settings | System | Storage ? When you go into the device, how much space is taken up with demos, which are easily redownloaded later if you want them?

You can also add on extra storage with a USB Flash drive, and you can add two of them for extra storage. Those go up to 32GB each, and the better flash drives show their speed on the packaging.
