How do I add my friend to the same game of Call of Duty

My brother and I both have an xbox series x. We play on the same wifi network and we both want to be able to play the old call of duty games together since the servers have been reinstated after the Activision purchase. The problem we have is that we’re both friends on xbox live, but whenever we jump into any of the old cods, whether it be blops 2 or mw3, once we go onto the friends tab in the game menu, we are nowhere to be found. We cant invite one another to any of each others games and party up, the options are just greyed out whenever we try to “join game” or “invite to game”. Can someone please shed some light on why we cant see one another as xbox live friends on these games? Please note that I have other friends that I can see on my friends list, but not my brother for some odd reason. We have tried being on separate networks, still nothing.

Please try to re-add each of your account as a friend. If you’re still having the same issue, please review both of your accounts’ privacy setting and make sure that everything is allowed especially for multiplayer option via https://account.xbox.com/Settings.

i have more fun playing with randoms. my friends that have the game play it like call of duty and no matter how many times i tell them we need to work together they just run off in all directions. lol at least with some randoms they know its not call of
duty.
