    How come sometimes I need to unplug my external hard drive for my xbox to start powering up...


    This is a problem that I have noticed within the past week or two. If I have a power outage or try to reset my console, the power brick will go orange like it would if it was in energy saving mode. When I try to turn it back on I here a very faint noise
    similar to the one the console would make when it will power on, but it will not. However, when I unplug my external hard drive, the power brick turns back to its normal color like in instant on mode, and everything powers back up. Any concerns or reasons
    for this?

    Maybe you should have the hard drive power mode set to off when XBOX is off.

    i have had a similar issue but i never had to unplug my HD, have you tried just unplugging the power cord from the wall or xbox

    I had a similar issue. I found that my external hard drive that was plugged in was drawing just enough power to prevent the xbox from restarting. It restarted after I unplugged my external drives. Hopefully this helps!

    A possible solution to this is to do a full power cycle by holding the power button in for about 10 seconds then wait until the light on the power brick turns orange, then unplug it from the power outlet and wait until it goes out. Then unplug and external
    hard drives, power the Xbox back up and when it’s fully started you should be able to connect to the WI-FI then plug the hard drive back in.
