I'm writing on behalf of a friend who's having trouble unlinking their Gmail account from their Microsoft account, which is connected to their PlayStation to play Minecraft. Here's what happened:

• They tried to reset the Microsoft account password linked to an old Gmail account, but when they entered the recovery code sent to Gmail, they were looped back to the original page asking for another code.
  
• Eventually, the Gmail account was banned by Microsoft.
  
• When trying to recover the account, Microsoft offered an option to send the code to an old phone number that they no longer have access to. They later added a new Gmail address for recovery, but that didn't work either.
  
• They submitted recovery forms to Microsoft two weeks ago but haven't received any response.
  

The main issue is that they can't access their Microsoft account at all, which prevents them from unlinking it from their PlayStation to use a new Microsoft account that they are able to access from there Gmail easily, and consequently, they can't play Minecraft.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or know how to get the account back or unlink it? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

When your friend selects the forgot password option and goes through to the security proofs page. Do they seen an option to select "I don't have any of these"?





This should take them to a prompt for an account recovery code.

The main issue is that they can't access their Microsoft account at all, which prevents them from unlinking it from their PlayStation to use a new Microsoft account that they are able to access from there Gmail easily, and consequently, they can't play Minecraft.

Going by what you have posted above, if your friend is wanting to link a new Microsoft account to their PlayStation account, this won't be possible. Only one Microsoft account can be linked to a PlayStation account. Thus, once linked you are unable to link another Microsoft account, even if you unlink the account.

If you linked this deleted gmail account (that was your Microsoft account) to your PSN account, it cannot be unlinked.

If you recover this gmail account you can actually unlink it from your PSN account, but once you link a Microsoft account to a PSN account, you cannot link any other Microsoft account to it. Only the original one can be linked again.

It is possible to have a Microsoft account with an email from Gmail but you should have created the account before going through the migration process.

I recommend contacting Mojang to unlink this account and migrate to another Microsoft account.
