How can you play Halo MCC split screen Co-op(?) without a game pass -Xbox console

I just bought a digital code Halo MCC on my xbox S.

I want to play in split screen with my little brother in co-op mode (as a team, not competitors). However when I tap the Multi-player bar-> Social game, it just keeps telling me to buy a game pass... How can i just play without the game pass?

I used to play halo CE & 2 (disks) nearly a decade ago with my friends at home with split screen, so i definitely thought that this upgraded MCC digital code would allow the same.. Plz help, I just bought a new Xbox console and MCC digital code for my brother so he can play along...

I can suggest a few, Halo MCC, Halo: Reach (which is backwards compatible), The Lego video games, Forza Motorsport titles. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

In terms of the terminology (Multiplayer online/offline, split-screen and horde and all) it can be a bit confusing, in your case you would be after games that have split-screen and/or local co-op options and anything
that has Multiplayer offline. These will allow you to play with a friend on that console.

You can in coop mode campaign NOT multiplayer. Since that is online

Social matches are still online

They just aren't ranked

You can't play HALO 5 together on the same console. The game does not have split screen functionality. It is for online co-op only.

Just for clarification, are you trying to play local co-op / split-screen? Because Halo 5 is the only one in the series that doesn't have local co-op.

Halo 5 unfortunately does not support split screen mode. You can however play CO-OP (live).
