    How can my child talk to freinds while playing Minecraft on the Nintendo switch?


    Hi all, I’m trying to set my child up so he can play and talk to freinds on Minecraft, they have made freinds on Minecraft but can’t speak to each other via voice or text chat? They are both playing on a Nintendo switch.

    Has anyone got advise I am clueless

    Please can you check your child's multiplayer settings here: Xbox Settings - Privacy & Online Safety | Xbox

    Once you have signed into your account, or theirs, you should see their gamertag and account settings. Please click onto them and make sure the following settings are set to either friends or everybody

    • Others can communicate with voice, text or invites

    If you set it to friends. Please make sure your child is friends with the other kid on Xbox. You will need to do this via the Xbox app that can be installed on your PC, or through their profile here: Xbox Profile

    Have you an active Nintendo Switch Online Subscription? I ask this because I found the following Q/A on Minecraft Nintendo Switch FAQ:

    Can I play Realms on this edition?

    Yes, Realms is available on the Bedrock edition of Minecraft for Nintendo Switch. To play online on a Nintendo Switch, you need to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, so this is a requirement for playing on Realms. More information about Nintendo Switch Online can be found here.

    Furthermore, can you post the entire error message (better a screenshot/photo)?

    Thanks for reaching out! It seems though that you are talking about a Switch and Nintendo. While it's an amazing device, it's not from Microsoft or associated to Xbox.

    You can find the Nintendo support page here: https://support.nintendo.com/ you will probably have better luck there.
